Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen helpers with One Brick

This event has already passed

Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen, a non-profit organization has been serving the working poor, families, homeless and seniors living in and around the downtown and East Side of San Jose for close to 30 years. What began as a simple first meal of fish and bread for 11 adults and 15 children has grown to nearly 500 meals per day, served with dignity. These no-cost hot meals are offered to our clients in a safe, caring, and friendly environment.

What we'll be doing

Volunteers at Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen may be asked to help with all aspects of the meals, including setting up our dining room for dinner, preparing the meal, serving and clean up.

What you should know

Wear clothes you can work in – No open toe-shoes or heels, no shorts or short skirts, shirts must have sleeves (no tank or halter tops) and should not be low cut or show the midriff. Medium or long hair must be pulled back; we have hair ties if anyone forgets.

Please leave any valuables at home or in your car (i.e. iPod, purse, etc). There is a small office but it is not locked during meal service. They do have space to store coats, keys, and other small items.

Please RSVP on the One Brick website so that we know you're volunteering. :-)

Where to meet

Eastside Neighborhood Center. Parking is in back of the building off of Plaza de Guadalupe (go to the end of this street, at the bend in the road, you’ll see a small driveway, which leads to our parking lot).
