WHAT: STEPOLOGY presents the 2012 BAY AREA RHYTHM EXCHANGE

STEPOLOGY, a nonprofit corporation, presents the 2012 Bay Area Tap Festival. The Festival, now in its 10^th year, celebrates the joy and wonder of the uniquely American art form of tap dance, and features Festival artists in a week of instructional workshop classes hosted by KUNST-STOFF Arts. The Festival culminates with the Bay Area Rhythm Exchange – which features Festival artists with live musical accompaniment at Herbst Theatre in a performance which has been listed in the SF Chronicle’s “Top Ten Dance Performances of the Year” in multiple years.

This year’s lineup includes many returning festival favorites as well as some new surprises: Music Director Channing Cook Holmes (Riverdance, Gangs of New York, Bojangles), Festival Director John Kloss (Tap Heat),Mark Mendonca (The Polar Express; Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk), Jason Rodgers (Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk), Sam Weber (Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood), the Barbary Coast Cloggers, and more. Additionally, internationally recognized tap artist Terry Brock, who has appeared with show business personalities such as Shirley MacLaine, Ben Vereen, Bob Hope, and Ray Charles, makes her Bay Area Rhythm Exchange debut.
