WG Round Table Supports Anti-Bullying Day of Awareness (public event)
Round Table Pizza Willow Glen is proud to support the Amanda Network's Inaugural Anti-Bullying Day of Awareness on Saturday, August 18, 10am-6pm at Cambrian Park United Methodist Church.
Just in time for the start of a new school year, the public is invited to an Anti-Bullying Day of Awareness in honor of a local teen, Amanda Brownell, who was left severely disabled after a suicide attempt at Del Mar High School in San Jose because of the bullying she endured through MySpace, Facebook, AIM, and the 3500 text messages she received the month beforehand. All money raised will support free Amanda Network presentations at local schools.
The event will feature guest speakers, bullying documentaries ("Bully" at 11am and "Two Spirits" at 2pm), music, dancing, poetry readers, a haircut cut-a-thon by Safavi Institute of Cosmology & Esthetics, local fire and EMT personnel, jump houses, face painting, tables staffed by local support organizations that serve youth and families, and a silent auction/raffle (4pm-6pm). Food from different vendors will be available all day.
Speakers will include Amanda's mother, Ann Brownell; Ms. America International 2012, Carla Gonzalez; and San Jose elected officials. In addition, Amanda Network members of all ages will be sharing their personal stories.
For more information, please contact the event coordinator Mark Gonzalez, at 408-667-7141.
