Glad to see you're doing this again, although I probably won't have the energy to join you. I don't think I can brave the cold either! It's 41 right now, and it's not even winter yet!

We're experiencing some problems with getting messages posted that that are entered in when RSVPs are being made, but they're getting through to me, the event organizer. I should have this problem fixed within a day or two. In the meantime, if you click on the "Add Reply" button at the bottom, you message will get posted to the event discussion thread.

Ok, we have 28 RSVPs made for the Winter Wonderland Bus Tour so far. That means that I'm going to change the format of the event slightly to accomodate everyone. Instead of that 21 passenger executive bus, we're going with a 40 passenger fun bus. The 40 passenger isn't as plush as the other bus, but it's plenty comfortable and it also allows me to drop the price to $20 a head.

For everyone who's paid the $30 price through PayPal, I'm issuing you a $10/per ticket refund today.

If you haven't paid yet, please pay online via PayPal now or make other arrangements with me to help me cover my costs of doing this.

We have 12 seats left. Feel free to invite some friends along to come see dozens of unbelievable Christmas and Holiday light displays that I'll have spent weeks scoping out.

Due to a couple of cancellations and a couple of pending cancellations, we've got plenty of room on the bus. If you've thought about inviting friends, but didn't want to take up too many seats, don't worry. We've got at least 14 seats available right now. Go ahead and invite away to anyone who you think would enjoy an evening of touring some of the best Holiday and Christmas Displays in the South Bay.

A number of people have been confused about how to make the online payments for the tickets because it only allows you to purchase one at a time. That was a big oversight on my part. I've now fixed it so that you can purchase more than one ticket at a time. You no longer have to go through multiple checkouts just to get a ticket.

UPDATE: We'll have a visit with Santa again as part of the first leg of the tour.

Thanks Sheldon for hosting such a great outing. Just got a cold today, so will have to see if I'm feeling better by Friday.

UPDATE: Please note the slightly changed itinerary. The first leg of the tour will be a bit shorter because one of the stops from previous years is not running this year and because we need to leave Christmas in the Park by 9:00pm to make it to a special treat in Sunnyvale.

If all goes well, the bus should be back by 10:30pm instead of 11:00pm.

FYI everyone, I'll be sending out directions to our house tomorrow to everyone who's RSVP'd.

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had as much fun on our annual Christmas Lights bus tour as I had hosting it. It's my favorite event to do all year not just because the light displays are amusing, but because it's terrific to get familiar with parts of the South Bay landscape that I've never seen before while I'm planning the year's route. Thanks for joining us for it this year. The event was a full sell out and we had the most number of people on the trip since the first time I did this seven years ago.

Hi everyone,

I'm scratching together the details for my annual Christmas Lights Bus Tour for 2009 after taking last year off.

In case anyone needs a reminder what this is, here are some photos of some displays we've visted in past years:

The first step is getting a date down and I'm currently planning on doing the tour on Saturday, Dec. 19th. Those of you who want to go this year, please let me know if that date will work for you and if not, give me another day that will work for you. If I get enough requests for another date, I'll move the tour to another day.

I'm also considering a format change of skipping the stop at Christmas in the Park in Downtown San Jose and just doing a straight shot bus tour. This will also cut out 45 minutes to an hour off of the tour. Let me know if you have any strong feelings about keeping the Christmas in the Park stop or not.

Finally, we'll be doing the pick up and drop off for the tour at another location this year. We can't do it from our house this year because Mary's under doctor's orders to avoid large crowds and can't join us on the tour and can't mingle with people if they come over. If any of you want to volunteer your house as a pick-up / drop off zone, let me know. We'll either meet at another house or find a good public spot to gather.
