Please bring your thinking caps. I look forward to discussing our impressions of this novel.

Hey Tammi, you should edit the name to include the name or part of the name of the book in the title to make it easier to catch for people just scanning headlines. I've added this event to the downtowncampbell.com calendar since the event is happening in Downtown Campbell. It might also help to have the book summary in the event listing for the lazy people.

So, anyone have any tentative ideas regarding a book for October? I'll hop onto the weekly book list on the Christian Science monitor to see if anything looks promising.

Looking down the road, with Nov and Dec holiday months, might we consider consolidating things into a single gathering, say the first or second week of Dec? That would also give us extra time to digest a book over Christmas for a gathering in late Jan '07.

Just a thought.

Hey guys,

I didn't receive an e-mail notification that someone had posted a reply to the group, so I'm sending this one out to see if it generates an e-mail notification. Maybe I don't understand what triggers the e-mail.

All;

For our October gathering, I've poked around the Christian Science Monitor and NY Times best seller list, and I've run across "The Camel Club" by David Baldacci that sounds interesting. It's currently available in paperback.

Looking down the road, Miki and I saw a couple of "promo" posters at Borders this weekend. If we opt for a "consolidated" session in early December, "The Innocent Man" by John Grisham to be released on Oct 10 caught our attention.

Then, for late January, "For One More Day" by Mitch Albom, author of "Tuesdays with Morrie" seems to have some promise.

Yeah, I'm not getting notifications either. I just happened to see if anything new was posted to this activity and there was.

Oops! I'm not getting notifications either! I'll let Sheldon know.

I just finished a fabulous book written by a writer from Los Angeles - it's her debut novel, and it rocks. It's entitled "Across a Hundred Mountains", and it's by Reyna Grande. You can find information about it here:
http://reynagrande.com/home.htm

I was going to suggest it as a possible book club reading. It would give us a lot to talk about.

I don't know if this will be sent, but I did get an e-mail notification when Larry posted a few days back, but I didn't when Mary posted.

There used to be a box at the bottom to check to enable e-mail notification, but I just looked and the box isn't there. In its place is a statement, "you are currently receiving email notification of replies".

Anyway, I checked out the link to the book Mary suggested and it sounds pretty good.

See you all at the gathering tomorrow night.

I spoke with Sheldon, and the notification system now seems to be working (I just received notification of your message, Miki). Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night!

Hi everyone, I guess this has become the tech support "book club" thread. wink.gif

I think I might know what's causing confusion. The email notifications for replies only go out if something happens when you're offline for more than 15 minutes. This means that if I post a message 5 minutes after you leave the website, it won't send you a notification.

I guess this is a confusing way to do email notifications so I'll get it changed so that it always sends a notification if you're requesting them.
