Fire on Crockett Ave - 9/16/06
Last night, everyone's evening on the West San Jose side of the San Tomas Neighborhood got a big jolt when fire truck after fire truck charged down the streets. Anyone know what happened?
I think the fire was on Crockett Ave. It could have been Margaret Ln, but I'm not sure. I was on the wrong side of a fence to get a perfect look at what happened and half the neighborhood seemed to be driving toward it. I was on foot to avoid getting in the way of emergency vehicles and by the time I got to where I got to, the fire was mostly out though it did spark up a few times, spending sparks shooting up dangerously in the sky.
It's a good thing it wasn't windy last night or that fire could have been a lot worse. The second I heard all the sirens, I went and turned on all the sprinklers to water down the yard just in case it was someplace near. It was several blocks away, but the smell of smoke was heavy and the pulsing reddish smoke was close enough for me. I hope everyone on Crockett Ave. is ok.
