Nicole Cheri and the Groundbreakers

Nicole Cheri and the Groundbreakers provide some inspired cover sets over on the East Stage of the Oktoberfest 2005 celebration in Downtown Campbell. They feature a repertoire of songs that spans many decades from the 40's on up to current day hits.

Nicole is a four time California State vocal champion and the four seasoned musicians that form the band (the Groundbreakers) have played with such greats as B.B. King, Tommy Castro, The Tramps, The Drifters, Chaka Kahn, The Buckinghams, The Coasters and Billy Joel. Pictured behind Nicole are Joe Maggio on lead guitar and 'Philly' Bill Weir on bass guitar.

Speaking as a trained musician, I have to say that this band is fantastic! Their arrangements are great, they are very well-rehearsed, each of the musicians has very good technique, and their interpretations pack a punch. I'd go and see them again anytime!! So glad I caught them at Oktoberfest.
