Ron Wilson Out as Sharks Head Coach
Well, this had to be one of the least surprising announcements in the NHL. Ron Wilson, the winningest coach in Sharks history is out after the Sharks failed to beat teams that everyone expected them to beat. Some players are supposed to be on their way out too. Who do you think might be the next coach and which players do you expect to get dropped?

What Would You Buy with 3 Trillion Dollars?
This website is hilarious and really depressing at the same time. It's a faux shopping website and unlike most shopping websites, it's not supposed to help you save money. Your task is to see how many things, people, islands, etc. that you can buy if you have the estimated cost of the Iraq occupation to flush down the drain.

So gentlemen and ladies, start your pocketbooks.

Heat Wave Expected Tuesday
Forecasters predict temperatures above 90 starting Tuesday. The unseasonably warm weather "15 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of the year" is expected to last into next week. Thursday is expected to be the hottest days, with temps tapering to the 80s by the weekend.

Donate To Food Banks
I should've paid better attention to the date so I could've posted this earlier. Postal carriers held their annual food drive on Saturday. It is the largest food drive in the country. While it's too late to participate, you can still make a donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank, http://www.secondharvest.org/. I'm sure there are other similar charities, so feel free to post them. Anyway, I’m marking my calendar for May 10th for next year! You can also donate non-perishable food items at Safeway. They have a collection bin at the front of the store. Nutritious items such...more

World Fair Trade Day
Yesterday was World Fair Trade Day. I don't think this was widely publicized, and since every day has been claimed by some group (Don't Buy Gas Today Day, anyone?), these days have sort of lost their meaning. I still think it's important to draw awareness to fair trade, which is the point of these days anyway. Here are a couple of fair trade sources I'm aware of. Please post others I've missed.

Is Santana Row freezing out Ben & Jerry's?
The owner of the Santana Row Ben & Jerry's claims he is being pushed out by management group Federal Realty. Walid Hazim says he renewed his lease in June 2007 but Federal says he failed to renew the lease. A new tenant, Red Mango, has already been procured and plans to move in as soon as B&J's vacates. I've never heard of Red Mango but apparently they sell frozen yogurt in Hollywood. Aside from the lease disagreement, Red Mango sounds repulsive to me as I hate mangos, and I never knew they were red. I thought they were more of...more
