Originally published as the Cambrian News, the Campbell Express has been exclusively covering community news and opinion in Campbell and Cambrian neighborhoods for over fifty years. Our purpose is to help our readers keep in touch with their community and we do that through coverage of local news through weekly columns written by Campbell residents who know what's going on from a first person perspective.

In addition to covering city news and information we also bring you unique perspectives in our local interest columns, Putting a Human Face on Downtown Campbell by historian Robert Sneed, Jack's Place: What's Up in Downtown Campbell by Jack Bagley, and Computing in Campbell by tech author Jim Aspinwall. We're a small paper with deep coverage. Our awards include being named Campbell's business of the year in 2001.

The Campbell Express enjoys special status as one of the handful of Bay Area newspapers adjudicated to publish public legal notices. Please see our Advertising Rates page for more information on publishing Legal Ads such as Summons, Name Changes, Fictitious Business Name (DBA) filings, Probate Filings, Bulk Sales, Lien Sales, and Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Notices.

About the Owner and Editor

Sally Howe
As a Campbell resident for almost fifty years, publishing the longest running Campbell area newspaper is a fitting expression of the love that I have for my community. I've been the Editor of the Campbell Express for five years and as of 2003, I'm also the owner too. The previous owners wanted to move on and after the many years that I've worked for newspapers and magazines, owning my own paper wasn't that big of a jump.

I got my start in publishing as a columnist for the Campbell Press, the first newspaper in Campbell. I started writing there while working on a Journalism degree from San Jose State. Life got in the way of me finishing that degree, but I continued to serve the community and work in publishing and eventually went back to finish college at St. Mary's with a degree in Public Service. One of the more interesting publications that I've worked for is a magazine called Good Packaging, which was dedicated to the industry of product packaging. If you think about it, almost everything you touch is in packaging at some point.

I've been deeply committed to the community my entire life and was honored as Citizen of the Year in Campbell in 1990. For thirteen years, I directed the Campbell Progressive Seniors program, one of the most innovative and successful assistance programs in the county for seniors. The program no longer exists today as an independent organization, but many of its programs such as Transportation, Food, Home Visits have been spun off and live on as programs of their own throughout Santa Clara County.

Prior to becoming the owner of the Campbell Express, I bred Pembroke Welsh Corgis for around 40 years. Owning a newspaper is a big responsibility and I had to give up breeding to focus on running the paper, but I still have dogs of my own.
