About the OwnerNeil Collins Neil Collins was a self-admitted outdoors adventure freak who's come to terms with his cravings for the extreme and has settled into a more reserved appreciation of nature now that he's older and has a family. He's really learned to appreciate the accessible outdoors experiences that are only minutes away in the South Bay and says that he enjoys the short two mile hikes on public open space trails as much as a ten mile hike in more rugged terrain. He believes that it's very important for children to be familiar with the outdoors and these days, a lot of his time outdoors is spent introducing his kids to nature.
Before he opened Trailsloggers in Fall of 2005, Neil was the general manager of Mel Cotton's Sporting Goods in San Jose, a position he worked his way up to from a stock boy position. In his seventeen years at Mel Cotton's, Neil acquired a great understanding of the kind of products that most people need and he has sat on various boards and served in advisory positions for well known national manufacturers in the outdoors equipment industry. He started Trailsloggers because he felt there was a need for an outdoors store that was more approachable and geared toward casual enthusiasts, novices, and first timers. |
