Emerging, Essential, Evolving Expressions
Heart of Chaos

San Jose, CA 95111

Offering: Local Artists

Heart of Chaos (HOC) was created by former at-risk young adult and emerging artist Curtis Manzano with the financial & inspirational support of Catalyst for Youth, a 501c3 California corporation. The core idea was to provide a venue for other emerging and under-recognized fine artists, writers, poets, and photographers to showcase and market their work.

Today this online artisan collective is a growing group of dynamic and wildly creative young people. To join, simply contact us or signup for our online virtual exhibit for free at http://www.heartofchaos.net/artup. And don't miss participating in our latest juried shows and exhibits! Check our website, http://www.heartofchaos.net, for details.

Heart of Chaos has a Community Outreach Task Force created by emerging artists Anabella Pinon and Miguel Machuca that partners with other groups to benefit the community at large. Currently Anabella and Miguel give a weekly art class at Juvenile Hall. If you would like to volunteer to teach at Juvenile Hall please send us a message.

The Meaning of Heart of Chaos

An innate and unique image of wholeness called the strange chaotic attractor lies at the heart of every chaotic system. The founders of HOC liked this idea that comes from Chaos Theory, an aspect of the new science of quantum mechanics.

Scientists discovered that if an open, chaotic system is tracked long enough over time, it does not break down as was once expected, but reveals instead a unique (to that system) image. This hidden image of wholeness resides at the heart of chaos and is called a strange attractor because it has power to align and propel the whole system toward a higher level of
order.

Young people struggle to find themselves and their gifts and this process is characteristically chaotic — especially when observed by those with more life experience and stability. Despite their outwardly chaotic lives, however, they have a hidden wholeness, an innate image or mark of character that seeks to guide and shape them from within.

While they search and struggle, Catalyst for Youth, the non profit organization that funds the Heart of Chaos, tends the fire of their creativity and mirrors their gifts back to them until they can see their path. The Heart of Chaos artisan collective is one avenue to let their creativity shine. May it facilitate their growth and movement toward personal power and authentic authority.
