These images signify the progression in time of the 763 Lighthouse Ave building. Since the early 1900's this building has housed several types of businesses; however, for the past 30 years the building has housed photo related businesses.
Cailfornia Views operated their business here before moving to downtown Monterey. They specialize in historical photos of the Monterey area and have a large database of all historical photos. They have been a resource for countless books and media productions. Before them , The Darkroom Labs operated here. Many locals photographers and darkroom people would gather and print in the rental darkrooms.
Bay Photo has been offered photo service in the area since 1978, with their first Monterey store being in the building where the 31 Flavors is now. They moved to 763 Lighthouse in 1986.
Since 2003 (and currently) Monterey Bay Photo has occupied the space. We still are a full service printing lab but our focus has shifted to strict analog images and a mixture of digital and film production.
