05/17 (Thu): Book Club Meeting: Idiot America (Posted by: ArsNova)
Everyone is invited to join the Social Wave Book Club as we discuss Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the Free by Charles P. Pierce. In the midst of a career-long quest to separate the smart from the pap, journalist Charles Pierce had a defining moment at the Creation Museum in Kentucky, where he observed a dinosaur…wearing a saddle. With his razor-sharp wit and erudite reasoning, Pierce delivers a gut-wrenching, side-splitting lament about the glorification of ignorance in the United States. A staff writer for the Boston Globe Magazine, Pierce is a contributing writer for Esquire. [ more info] Group: Book Club
