Rosy's Fish City!

RATING:

Thumbs Up!

Rosy’s Fish Market… one word… yum!

In not the best of locations, Rosy’s is the kind of place that you would drive by and never notice… and if by chance you did, you’d never go inside there on your on volition! Thank goodness we had heard a recommendation, or else we’d never know about this restaurant!

Upon entering, I was surprised how clean the restaurant was. All of their fish is on display, but yet, there is no fishy smell! The chefs cook in full view of the patrons, which is an added bonus. I cannot express how clean Rosy’s is! They also have a small bar there that seats about 5 people, and serves beer and wine. But the main reason for going there is the food!

Their menu has everything fish you could imagine and some things you couldn’t! They have about 10 appetizers on the menu. I recommend the Mexican Seafood Cocktail if you are into the spicy stuff! They also offer oyster shooters, oysters Rockefeller, ceviche, fried clam, calamari, prawns, seafood nachos or a combo platter. Appetizer prices range from $1.50 to $10.00, the average price being about 6 bucks.

Dinner choices include salads, sandwiches, pasta, items from the grill and/or fryer and best of all are their specialties. Specialties (about 20 of them) include Snapper Veracruz, Scampi, Shrimp Royal, Scallops, Sole stuffed with Crab, Calamari, Cioppino, Chicken, Steak & Prawns and Lobster tail! Prices average $12.00 and dinners include soup/salad, rice or pasta, vegetables and garlic bread! You will not go away hungry here. Portions are big!

Be sure to check the daily specials on the chalk board – seafood tostadas - $3.50!

They use red snapper in their fish & chips and also offer fried catfish and hushpuppies!

Long story short. The place is clean. Beautiful menu with a Mexican influence. Fish is fresh, portions large. Service is VERY Friendly!

Oh… and on a final note, the other day, I had the tuna melt. What a surprise. It’s not canned tuna, but fresh tuna, cooked, and made into tuna salad! YUM!

Other items I’ve tried and loved… Grilled halibut and swordfish, deep fried prawns (so many I couldn’t finish them all), sole cilantro, onion rings (home made!) and fish tacos.

If you like fish, this will be a great place for you to try. I guarantee you will return!

Mai Tai's at Tao Tao's

RATING:

Thumbs Up!

OK, it took alot to get me to go back to tao Tao's. ever since that incident witht he cats... well, you know...

I went there recently for cocktails with some friends. They have changed it around and it looks great - The lighting of the bar was fantastic.

What blew me away was their Mai Tai's. Fabulous. delicious! I want one right now!

Mai Tai's and chicken salad. who's up to go!

The Original Pancake house

RATING:

Thumbs Down

Who doesn't have fond memories of going to a pancake house as a child and enjoying the warm, buttery, syrupy concoction that thankfully, came no where near what your Mother produced off her grill...

anyway.... That was the intention. To relive that warm, sweet memory.

I ordered pancakes, bacon and hashbrowns.

I got, rude service, raw bacon, and over price potatoes.

OMG...that place is horrible on sooooo many levels!!!

Really, the bacon was raw so I sent it back. It returned to me 20 minutes later as I was leaving to pay my bill. The hashbrown, yes, they were good, but 6 bucks for half a tater?!?!? come'on!

The waitress was sooooo rude and really didn't even care. When she served the food - she just put it down on the table in front of whoever was closest. Nobody got what they order.

Oh - I cant even go on... it was terrible!

Jalisco's!

RATING:

Thumbs Up!

Jalisco's has been in the area for over 40 years!

They serve the best Mexican food...ever! The food is simple, resonably priced, and consistantly delicious every time. They dont hold back on the cheese either! My favorites are their enchilada, shredded beef tacos and their carne asada. This is not your frozen food from Costco. It is all proudly handmade with generations of experience behind it. They also make their own, handmade flour tortilla's there are well. Pick up a dozen to take home with you

A couple of years ago, Jalisco's got a liquor license. I thought, 'they'll never use it. What could go better with nachos, than beer!" Well, I was wrong. They are now making the most kick-ass margarita's Ive ever had. each on hand made, from scratch. No mixes, nothing preblended.

Now for the decor... ok, you got yer food, your margarita, and now you need a place to sit. What goes better with Mexican food than genuine brown vinyl seats. The kind that your legs stick to when it's hot! They go so well with the orange tables. The seats have been used so much that they are all ripped and sunken in from years of meeting with peoples backsides. But who cares! the food is great! fabulous!

So you are sitting there, with your nachos, the margaritas, the seats that border on painful and you take in the glorious art on the walls. What better matching decor than... yes... painting of bulls... on velvet, surrounded by sombreos and maps of Mexico.

It's classic.

Oh, this place is ALWAYS packed with regulars. Oh yeah, the regulars.... did I mention that the owners & staff of Jaliscos are on a first name basis with the majority of their customers!!! Anyway, Get there early or late on the weekends or you will NEVER get in!

Enjoy Jaliscos!

I love this place!

RATING:

Thumbs Up!

The staff at this restaurant is unbelieveably friendly - they bend over backward for you!
The pizza is fantastic. Salami & pepperoni with extra cheese!
It's corney, but I loved the pipe organ too. The guy plays the thing without a single sheet of music! unbelieveable!

I'll go again!
