A Few Fun Questions

How Long Have You Lived in the Bay Area?
All or most of my life
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A pollution monitoring specialist
if you have a super power, what is it?
Be able to predict events beforehand and help avert disasters.
My hobbies, interests, and special skills
I'm convinced that people can rollerskate and play drums at the same time with enough practice, right now it's enough work trying to do those separately! Redesigning old shirts/screenprinting, keeping updated on the status of BAREC on Winchester Blvd. in Santa Clara (see http://www.savebarec.org), cooking vegan meals, playing tag with our cat Gomer.
Unusual facts and stories about me
A huge fan of Greyhound bus travel! Waiting for my next opportunity to do another cross-country trip.
If you're married or committed, say something about your other half. How did you meet and what sparked your interest?
We met at a Submission Hold (a political punk/experimental band from Vancouver, Canada) show in Berkeley about a year and change ago, and I never did believe in "love at first sight" until then. He's an exceedingly sweet and warm person with an unabashed nerdiness to him, and a frighteningly quick wittiness.
Do you have kids or own any pets?
One cat! One cat! His name is Gomer, after the clumsy Gomer Pyle of black and white tv- he was named by my friend Shasta and her family, who I adopted him from. He's unnervingly human-like in facial expressions and behavior and lives to play.
Places I've lived in
Santa Clara, behind Paramount's Great America, and for the meanwhile Saratoga.
About my favorite childhood toy
I dragged a faded rainbow terry blanket with me everywhere and I think that was the constant, but the red triceratops pillow with a side pocket came pretty close as a runners-up.
Best compliment ever given or received
The friend who gave me the recipe for vegan rice crispy treats also called me a kind soul.
The store I'd max out my credit card at
Most of the Indian food establishments in the area or the Great Vegi Land in Sunnyvale, treating friends and acquaintances to a vegetarian dinner.
Pet peeves and other annoyances
People forgetting to contact you after telling you they will, "the silent treatment", brusque rudeness, and other forms of poor communication. Meat and obnoxious men whistling at women on the sidewalk.
Favorite quote/odd fact
San Jose was the first established city in the state of California, chocolate contains some of the same chemicals that the brain stimulates when someone's in love, self-hypnosis can be used to improve health problems, a kitten at birth has a larger brain in proportion to its body size than a human infant's.
