Pep Boys was pretty good for battery changes I've been to Pep Boys a few times, but never for anything too significant. I've gone there a couple of times when I needed a new car battery installed and once to get my headlihts changed. I found the service there to be generally good and once just acceptable. Good Customer Service I recently had some work done on my car by Pep Boys. The guys that worked in the service area were really nice and answered all my questions and concerns. Dishonest and incompetent Everywhere I've been in the U.S. Pep Boys has a well-deserved reputation for being dishonest and incompetent. They are condescending and will charge you for any unnecessary thing they can think of. My most recent and worst experience was with a Pep Boys in Albuquerque. They played chicken with my friends car When my friend went there a few months ago for regular maintenance, two of the guys there actually started playing chicken in the parking lot with my friends car, while we were there! And after that they didn't even do half of the things they were supposed to do, they didnt change the fluids, fix the wiper blades and several other things that needed to be done. poor customer service I phoned the sunnyvale store, requesting a time I should arrive for a short wait for tire installation, and they said they were not busy. After I selected tires for my automobile, the price he quoted was much higher than expected, and when I asked him to expain all the charges on the printout sheet, he had added additional items I did not request, such as front end alignment, and premium tire warrenty.
