Service Magic stole our identity!! After repeated calls from Service Magic asking us to sign up for their service, I finally agreed to give it a try in January 2011. They were offering no sign up fees, the only requirement was that we have valid liability insurance. The way the service works is there is a charge for every contractor that receives a "lead" and I was told that each lead would go to three contractors in our area. Service Magic is Horrible I used Service Magic a few years ago. Around three years and the contractor they sent me was a complete fraud. His work was horrible and he kept changing his price after the contracts were written up and said this will be extra and that will be extra things that are all inclusive in a particular job. Re-model contractor Service magic stinks,they have sent me 30 or more leads all bogus I recieved 1 good lead that made me money, their leads wont return call messages or e-mails, I have spent valuable hours chasing smoke,they expect me to leave my credit card laying open to any charges they might want to collect, and have now turned me to a collection agency because I wont pay for bogus leads,Iam at this time collecting information for a lawsuite, if interested contacy me at goostree47@yahoo.com View Full Review >> Date Added: 10 January 2010

Service Magic Service Magic often gives bogus leads they have a reputation for being disreputable. I would not recommend any contractor or customer to them. Service Magic stinks I used to be a Service Magic Contractor. I had great reviews and earned them. I am saddened but not surprised that I am reading about Service magic doing unethical things. from a service magic contractor I have been a contractor working with Service Magic for around 1 month and so far have had 9 leads for entire roof replacements. 5 have been bogus, 3 turned out to be legitimate estimates, and 1 was out of my area. We finally contracted with Service Magic to furnish leads for our Window Treatment Company after their salesman called us everyday twice a day. 1 out of the first 6 leads was worth going out on. Service Magic Falsely states More honestly they charge contractors @ $250. a month to list their names on their site, then I have heard, additionally charge contractors another fee per referral, even if the referral is bogus. They are really not much more than a \\\"middle-man\\\". They do verify the contractors license, but this could be done very easily by going to the department of consumer protection website, in your state, where you can look up the contractor\\\'s license # on your own. ServiceMagic Sucks So, since you still owe the final payment to the contractor (you were to pay him in installments a quarter of the estimate at a time), who has gone out of business ( and abandoned his home) and skipped the state owing the supply houses for the materials (that are now placed as a lien on your house even though you paid for them thru him) and has left no forwarding address, and the work is far from "quality" (oh, but it passed the county final inspection, too bad it was not raining then! After filling out a long-ish questionnaire about my service needs and spending time figuring out how to navigate their website, I waited for over a week for a response.
