KSW and Mina Dresden Gallery are proud to present the lost and found | truong tran, the first solo exhibition of this poet-turned-visual artist and longtime KSW community member. Truong Tran is committed to making art accessible through the creative reuse of everyday materials. His process includes merging disparate objects, forcing them to compromise and accommodate one another in their process of becoming something new, something difficult and beautiful. In his work, Tran explores themes of surfaces, containers and the self-portrait. Tran uses wax, thread, light, color and found objects as a way of constructing veils that must be lifted to arrive at the meaning embedded within. He uses boxes to represent the containers that hold society's expectations of identity and self. It is here that he reinterprets and challenges these expectations and the construct of the self-portrait.http://gnourtnart.com

Chihuly at the de Young
June 14, 2008 — September 28, 2008

I have always been a fan of glass master Dale Chihuly’s work. Bay Area residents have been blessed with an exhibition of 40 years of his work at de Young Museum in San Francisco. It is the only venue for this exhibition. I was in Seattle a few years ago and wanted to buy some of his work but was afraid it would break in transport. I also love his work in the lobby of The Bellagio in Vegas. After reading a Mercury News review of the exhibit, I absolutely have to see it. I love art and particularly admire Chihuly and Marc Chagall’s work because it is so colorful and beautiful.

Check out the links below:

Mercury News review:
Glass master invites you to take a stroll through 40 years of workhttp://www.mercurynews.com/ci_9785542?IADI...mercurynews.com

Chihuly’s Website with photos of his spectacular workhttp://www.chihuly.com/

More pics from a Google Image Searchhttp://images.google.com/images?q=dale chihuly&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

For tickets, visit the Official de Young Websitehttp://www.famsf.org/deyoung/exhibitions/e...hibitionkey=819

Image Note:
I don't know if this work is part of the exhibit (I don't think it is since this site says there's no reserve, which makes it sound like it's up for auction) but it's beautiful.
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...=/images?q=dale chihuly&um=1&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=N

Sorry, the Google URLs are too long and won't paste correctly.
