Downtown Campbell is hosting a Fun Music, Food and Art event on Saturday "Campbell Big Bands and BBQ" July 12th 2pm to 9pm.

Fees for getting a bounced check?

Here's something that's always puzzled me. Maybe someone who knows a thing or two about the banking industry can answer this. Why is it that when you try to cash a check that bounces on you that you end up getting hit with an insuffient funds fee? Shouldn't all the fees go toward the person who scratched you that rubber check? Is there even any possible way for you to verify that a check is NOT going to bounce when you cash it?

Has anyone else been watching Ken Burns's latest documentary "The War" the past couple of weeks? Sheldon and I are totally addicted. It may be 15 hours of material, but it's whipping right by for us. I totally love it that I'm finally filling in all the holes in my knowledge of the various battles that I've always heard mentioned but never really understood (Guadalcanal, The Battle of the Bulge). And the interviews and film footage are extraordinary.

Mark your calendars for November 2nd when Heart of Chaos will host an open themed juried exhibit at South First Billiards. Though we have already done many juried exhibits, this will be our first South First Friday's exhibit in the heart of the city. The art will be juried by you! Heart of Chaos is seeking 2 face paint artists to participate in our final chalk art festival on September 8th. The volunteers will be required to be present for the entire event which begins at 10am and ends at 2pm on Saturday September 8th. Oil based face paint kits will be provided, however if the volunteers prefer to work with non-oil based paint they will need to bring their own. Tips for Photographing Christmas Light Displays

I get asked every year about how I get the pics of the Christmas light displays that I do and I guess there's probably a good number of people out there who'd like to get some tips on getting good shots of light displays. I'm no pro, so take any advice I can give you with a grain of salt. I've taken to shooting Christmas Lights types of displays as a major interest.

Artist Designs Microscopic Sculptures Invisible to Naked Eye

This is absolutely unbelievable. There's this guy named Willard Wigen in Birmingham, England, who makes micro sculptures. He literally turns things as small as grains of sugar or dust particles into artwork. His work requires so much concentration and stillness that he has to first meditate to slow his heartbeat down so he can sculpt in between heartbeats since his movements need to be THAT precise.
