Sonoma Chicken Coop in Downtown Campbell presents an evening of reggae music with Ashton Craig.
Born in Trinidad, Ashton Craig began playing the steel drums at age seven. He has performed at various music festivals in Trinidad and in the Panorama with the Nu-Tones Stell Orchestra over the years. Ashton moved to the US in 1984, and in 1986 he started his own 5-piece band, Pan Extasy. He has performed at private parties for such celebrities as Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover.

Author Gary Lee Parks is having a book signing at Stone Griffin Gallery on Friday, July 3 during the First Friday in Historic Downtown Campbell.
His book is "Theatres of San Jose."
Gary Lee Parks is a board member of the Theatre Historical Society of America and has assisted in the preservation of historic Bay Area theatres as both a professional and a volunteer.

San Joseans have long had their pick of the best in stage and screen entertainment. In the late 19th through the mid-20th centuries, theatres were beloved places. Whether in downtown, the neighborhoods, or surrounding communities such as Campbell, theatres provided the thrill of a night on the town. Most of the early theatres built in San Jose exist only in photographs, many exhibited in Theatres of San Jose for the first time. A few, such as the palatial California Theatre and the venerable Jose Theatre, serve exciting new uses in today's entertainment marketplace. Even such relative newcomers as the Century 21 Theatre and its fellow domed cinemas have begun to gain a romance of their own.
