I'm not much of a football fan these days, but the storylines of the Conference Championship games this year was intriguing enough that I listed to the games on radio. I really wanted to see New Orleans make it to the big game. There appeared to be a gutsy comeback in the works for a bit, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I wanted to see Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy finally get there too. I got one of my wishes.

So it's Da Bears vs. The Colts. Who'll win Superbowl XLI?

Cool! Jerry Rice makes one last score for the 49er's (albeit a symbolic one). He signed a contract to return to the 49er's and promptly retired from football so he could go out with the team he had his glory years in. I haven't followed much football in recent years and hockey's my big sport to follow now, but I'm really glad to see a local icon come back and fix up his legacy. Jerry Rice just never looked right in any other uniform than a 49er uniform.

Quote from Rice: "This means the world to me... When I performed, when I was making those spectacular catches and all that stuff, it was because of the inspiration from the crowd. Now I get a chance to say thanks to the fans for that.''

LINK: One more goodbye (SJ Mercury - Aug 25th, 2006
