Hula's Island Grill & Tiki Room in New Monterey's Lighthouse District presents Mahalo Mondays. Every Monday, Hula's will donate 10% of total sales for that day (5pm-closing) to a local charity. The charity we will be sponsoring Mondays in April is Animal Friends Rescue Project.
Animal Friends Rescue Project is dedicated to finding good permanent homes for abandoned, stray, and abused companion animals and ending the pet overpopulation crisis through focused spay/neuter programs. It uses its extensive network of volunteer foster homes to take in animals at the request of animal shelters that have not been able to adopt them out.

The Monterey Senior Center, located in the Lighthouse District, is pleased to present a diabetic support group for adults on the second Thursday of every month. The support group is organized and run by Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) Nutrition Services Department and is free and open to the public.
Participants will have an opportunity to discuss topics of heath and diet and also share personal experiences in a round table setting. A skilled nurse from CHOMP will provide tips, answers to questions, and resources to help each individual cope with this common disease.

Event: Bamboo Reef: Monterey Fun Dive

Join the Lighthouse District's Bamboo Reef each month for our Fun Dives from the shores of Monterey, Carmel, and the Big Sur Coast. We welcome all levels of divers, and will have dive professionals on hand to assist you. Buddy and group dives are organized; then we all get together afterwards to share a meal and recount the day's adventures.
Most dives will be in small, guided groups (usually with no more than 4 people), while our experienced divers may buddy dive. (A dive leader will be present at the site and may choose to break the group up depending on conditions.)
The cost is $10 per diver. Simply arrive at Bamboo Reef on Lighthouse Avenue before 9am (earlier if you need to rent equipment) where we'll announce the intended location for the day. Dive spots are chosen depending on weather and water conditions; we scout the beaches that morning to find the best diving the day has to offer.
All Fun Dive participants must have some coldwater diving experience and must provide their own equipment (equipment is available for rent), a c-card, a sense of adventure, and a desire to explore Monterey waters in a safe, enjoyable setting. Private guides are available at a slight additional cost if you have no Monterey diving experience or feel like you need one-on-one attention....more
