The Winter Wonderland 2009 Tour Route

For everyone who came on our annual Winter Wonderland Bus Tour and want to route so they could take their friends and family on the same tour to enjoy the lights and festivities that we enjoyed last night, here are some versions of the tour you can try. I have the standard tour and extended tours that include displays and stops that we could not fit into the tour due to time.

The Winter Wonderland Bus Tour of Silicon Valley Christmas Lights is back for 2009! We'll cruise around town in a 48 passenger fun bus, checking out some of the best Christmas light displays in the South Bay.
We're Keeping Christmas in the Park:
There was some discussion about cutting Christmas in the Park out of the trip this year, but I've reconsidered for a number of reasons. One of them trumps them all. It's a glorious bathroom break. The bus is equipped with a restroom too, but I'm sure you'd much rather visit the loo at the Fairmont Hotel.
New Starting Location for 2009:
We're trying something new this year. Instead of meeting at my house, we'll be meeting at one of the best decorated spots in Campbell, the apartment complex decorated by Debi Phelps at 595 Nido Dr. In previous year's we've visited at this incredible display as one of our stops, but it'll be our starting and ending point this year. Event: End of Summer Bummer Ride

In honor of the So-Cal Mother Chapter of the Chopaderos Outlaw Bicycle Club. We will be gathering for an extension of The End of Summer Bummer ride in Nor-Cal.So grab your ride and put your drinking shoes on!!We plan to meet at the address listed for a meet and greet do a little BBQ-ing and social drinking before we head out for a sip and zip at our local watering holes.The BBQ will be a potluck style affair so if anyone wants to bring something we can grill for the group please do.....drinks are also welcome!Please this is an adult ride so have your i.d.'s etc....as for the ride we will be riding into the late hours of night so please make sure your bike is in complete working order and has all neccessary lights and locks for safety!! We will be hanging out at as many bike friendly places we can find!!WE don't exactly have a route planned but will take a quick survey of the group to see if anyone objects to where were headed!Look forward to meeting some new comers as well as current riders!!

A group of artists will be painting panels for a mural in front of AD Gallery on South 1st Street as part of the SubZero block party on Friday, June 6th from 6 PM to Midnight. The theme of the mural is City Living/ City Views. Participating artists are: Christine Benjamin, Lacey Bryant, Lara Sophia Lenta, Michael Foley and Andy Gouveia.

Event: Orchard City Community Chorus

The Orchard City Community Chorus presents a "Musical Potpourri for Spring" featuring 10 songs by the chorus and 9 soloists. The concert is in memory of John Lomeli, a longstanding chorus member, founder of the Santa Clara Choral, and a local musical performer, as well as a long time Campbell resident. The concert is under the direction of Diane James, accompanied by Ann Ichina, pianist, and Mark Bergmann, Special Music and Effects. OCCC has been performing in Campbell for 25 years. Tickets may be bought at the door: $10.00 for Adults and $8.00 for Seniors, Students and Children.

Last Chance For the Best Light Show in South Bay

The Severns-Pease Christmas Lights display in Sunnyvale on Tangerine Way is going to be up until Jan 1st. That evening will be your last chance to see what I believe is the best coreographed synchronized Christmas light display in the South Bay until next year.
Dave Severns, one of the builders of the display has asked me to make an appeal to help them push their Second Harvest Food Bank fundraising up to a new record level. If you go, please make a donation of food or money. You can also make your donation online.
This display is one everyone can feel good about. It's beautiful, it's solar powered, and all proceeds go to feed the hungry. Please lend a hand if you enjoyed their work in 2007.

Ok, I've been asked by quite a few people to post some routes they can drive to see some of the houses that were featured in this year's Winter Wonderland Bus Tour.
Here are a few different short routes you can drive. These mini routes include a few houses that we didn't see either for scheduling reasons. Some of these houses would have taken too long for a bus to get to.

Want to See Awesome Xmas Light Displays?

In preparation for the Dec. 14th. Winter Wonderland Bus (Xmas Lights Tour), I've got to do some scouting in the two weeks before the event. I've got five prime dates to find all of the best displays to show on the tour and I need some volunteers to be spotters for me. I'll drive and you'll be on the lookout for anything that looks like it could be worth a closer look.
The dates that I'll be planning scouting trips are:Sat, Dec. 1st - Willow Glen Area (booked)Wed, Dec 4th - Campbell AreaThu, Dec. 6th - Sunnyvale/Santa ClaraFri, Dec. 7th - South SJSat, Dec. 8th - TBDWed, Dec 12th - Campbell againThu, Dec 13th - Test Run
We'll likely be gone for a couple of hours between 7:30pm and 9:30pm. The schedule is somewhat flexible and I may take trips on other days and times. If you're at all interested, let me know even if none of these times work for you.
There will be time to take photos. I'll be doing plenty of shooting and will be happy to take a little time to show you some tricks on how to get good pics of light displays if you need them.

Get in the holiday spirit and come join other Social Wave members on our most unique social event of the year! It's our annual Winter Wonderland Bus Trip. We'll cruise around town in a 40 passenger fun bus, checking out some of the best Christmas light displays in the South Bay. Halfway through, we'll take a 1 hour stop at Christmas in the Park in Downtown SJ. After that, it's back on the bus for more light displays as we zig zag our way back to Sheldon and Mary's house for an easy going after hours mingler with hot drinks and desserts, and assorted diversions.
Our bus has an interesting seating arrangement!
