Social Wave Performance Issues This Week

Over the past few days, you may have had difficulty accessing the Social Wave Main Index or event pages. There's a technical issue that's causing the main index to time out when loading sometimes. Event pages also will load very slowly or time out. The problem appears intermittent. If it happens, you can usually come back an hour later and things will be fine.
This issue only affects the homepage, events, and loading times on the two Social Wave portal sites: DowntownCampbell.com and DowntownWillowGlen.org. You can get to any other...more

Update: Still having occasional data center issues as of 10am, Dec 19th.
If you've tried to reach Social Wave on Monday, Dec. 17th, you may have experienced the site being unreachable or responding extremely slow. There were some data center issues that are now mostly resolved, but there may continue to be sporadic connectivity issues for an unknown period of time.

Responses Not Being Added to Event Message Thread

We're having an issue that is affecting some event postings that causes messages posted as part of an RSVP to not get added to the discussion thread for the event. The RSVP is processed and the notification goes to the event organizer, but the message doesn't show up in public.
This will get fixed this week. In the meantime, if you run into this problem, you can get around it by just clicking on the "Add Reply" button at the very bottom of the Event posting to add your message...more

Password Reset Feature Fixed

At long last, the password reset feature has been fixed. If you forget your password, you can again click on the "Forgot Password" link and you can get a link emailed to you that will allow you to change your password to something that you'll remember.

Password Reset Feature Not Working Temporarily

We've had a couple of people report that they haven't been able to reset their password using the password reset feature. I'll be checking this out soon and it should be fixed within a week. In the meantime, if you're having password problems, just email us at support@socialwave.net.

Social Wave Back in the Google Index

After a few months of having problems with Google, Social Wave should be showing up in the Google Index again. The problem actually had nothing to do with any mysterious policy violations as I had assumed, but a coding error on my part that prevented Google from indexing anything from Social Wave.

Social Wave Probs with Google Listings - Need an Expert

This year has been one big tech issue headache after another. First it was AOL's mail, then it was Yahoo's Mail. Now that AOL and Yahoo are being cool, it's Google's turn. Only this time it's not a mail issue. Socialwave.net seems to have almost disappeared from Google's search index. This one by far hurts the worst. It's completely killing our site traffic, which has dropped dramatically in the last two months.

Social Wave Network Problems on Friday, July 20th

If you tried to access Social Wave or any of the Downtown Portals connected to Social Wave (downtowncampbell.com and downtownwillowglen.org) on the evening of Friday, July 20th, you may have experienced an extremely sluggish or inaccessible site. Sorry for the inconvenience. We had some technical difficulties with a change to some network settings that more or less knocked down the site until the problem was discovered and resolved shortly after 1am on Saturday morning.

Yahoo Mail Users Please Add SocialWave to Addressbook

I've been wrestling with Yahoo for the past month about clearing the status of Social Wave newsletter mailings and they either are not able to fix the problem or they're not interested in fixing the problem. Instead of spending countless more hours trying to get them to properly handle email coming from Social Wave, I'd like to ask everyone using Yahoo Mail to add Social Wave email addresses to your addressbook. Adding these addresses will tell Yahoo Mail that we're not spamming you.

What's New in Social Wave 1.6!

Social Wave 1.6 has been released! This release covered a large number of nagging bugs that have been on my to-do list for too long and a few key major enhancements. There are also a lot of little changes. Social Wave Upgrade Scheduled TUES. May 15th 1am-6am

UPDATED: The upgrade has been RESCHEDULED for Tuesday morning between 1am and 6am. I wasn't able to get everything ready to move by this morning.

HTML Editor for Events & Merchant Profiles Updated

The HTML Editor that's used in event postings and in some Merchant Profile pages has been updated as of this morning. The updates should address some quirky behaviors exhibited by the editor tool when used to attempt multiple layout or style edits to the same block of text.
More editor options have also been added to give you additional control over how the posted content will look. Mac users, the latest version should also work a little better in Safari, though it still is highly recommended that you use Firefox...more

Social Wave Site Outage Jan 7th

The Social Wave site was down from around 6am to about 4pm on Sunday, Jan 7th due to a network glitch. The problem is temporarily fixed for now and should be permanently resolved soon. I'm not expecting another outage, but if one happens, it should be short. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone.

Delayed Email Notifications and Email to Members

The Social Wave server was upgraded last night and while the move went smoothly by most accounts, we are experiencing a couple of glitches that we're currently trying to work out. One problem that we're having is with sending out email notfications and emails forwarded through member profiles. If you're in line to receive any emails that are sent through Social Wave, your messages are being held up.

Social Wave Server Upgrade Scheduled Dec. 20th

Social Wave's web server will be getting an upgrade this week and the site and all services associated with the site will be interrupted between 2am and 6am on Wednesday morning. If anything goes wrong, it might be a while longer, but I expect this to happen pretty smoothly. If you notice anything odd happening or stuff breaking after the upgrade, please kindly notify from the support pages.
