Last night's Campbell City Council Meeting was not only an eventful evening of the installation of new and old to City Council but was an evening of caring, support, laughter and love. This was not your typical Council Meeting I can assure you.

Councilman Mathew Dean gave a very heartfelt good-bye speech and detailed some of the projects on which he took part. Jane Kennedy became our new Mayor. Ann Bybee was sworn in as our City Clerk and Joe Hernandez was sworn in as our newest Council Member.

Our City Manager Bernie Strojney was given a standing ovation for his outstanding leadership in making our small city what it is today. He leaves behind the fulfillment of the Heritage Theatre, Community Center and many other worthwhile projects. Bob Kass of Public Works will be the interim City Manager.

The most touching moment came when Councilman Don Burr asked his lovely wife Darlene to join him at the podium and thanked her for her many years of support
by suprising her with a beautiful diamond bracelet. This will be Councilman Burr's last term in office. Laughter was in abundance when Joelle Hernandez asked Joe when she gets her bracelet!

City Council Chambers was filled to the brim with those friends, family, supporters and was even graced by numerous students from a civics class.

2005 should see the VTA train running thru our fair city and some other projects that will come to fruition. Our City is very fortunate to have such a fine, caring group of citizens that will continue to work to make Campbell the great Little Orchard City!
