Review of A' Bellagio
Street: 33 S Central Ave
City: Campbell, CA
Phone: (408) 370-7705
Type of Cusine: Nothern Italian
Review Title: A' Bellagio
Overall Score: 10
(Overall Satisfaction: 10, Value: 10, Quality of Food: 10, Quality of Service: 10, )
My Opinion:
Peno Spano serves up unique northern Italian dishes that are served in a homey setting deep in the heart of Campbell (formerly Giuseppe's).
Don't expect red sauce and meatballs at this white-tablecloth-and-candlelit restaurant. Yes, pastas are the star, but in the form of gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce and and the Pasta Bellagio (my personal favorites). Entrees range from osso buco to scallops in a garlic white wine sauce. The dining experience is casual, just the kind of setting for nursing a glass of wine between courses. I highly recommend a visit!

Hey A' Bellagio recently changed ownership, right? It seems like just about half of the entire row of merchants in Downtown Campbell has changed hands in the past year or so.

Review Title: Yummy, yummy, yummy!!

My Opinion:
Our first meal at A' Bellagio was quite a special meal! We were out with friends for Vinter's Night at Tannin's and decided we were all very hungry so we headed over to A' Bellagio since we'd all been wanting to try it for a while. Unfortunately it was past closing time when we arrived, but, we were encouraged to come in and eat by the owner's wife and a waiter. They were going to stay open for us! After a big fuss was made to beautifully set up our outdoor table, the owner, Pino Spanu, came out and let us know that the chefs had gone home for the night but he would happily prepare us a meal!! Wow! He offered to pick out a few selections on the menu and could easily accomodate the vegetarians in our party. For an appetizer, we had the spinach salad with a simple vinagrette and the Caprese, with buffalo mozarella made by Pino himself. Both were absolutely wonderful. For our main course we were served a trio of ravioli's, pumpkin, artichoke and mushroom. ALL were cooked to perfection and very flavorful! We also had the gnocchi with gorgonzolla and I swear this is the yummiest, creamiest pasta dish I have ever eaten in my life. The meat-eater of our quartet had a pasta dish with sausages homemade by Pino. He loved it! We ended our lovely meal with a perfectly made tiramisu. It's a meal I will not soon forget. We have gone back to this lovely restaurant with its wonderful service many times and have introduced its wonderful food to our friends who have done the same. We are always greeted with a warm smile from Pino and his staff and are always very satisfied with the memorable meals we have there.
