SW 1.4: Personalization Features

In the 1.3 release, we considered implementing different city/area homepages of Social Wave so that people who lived in one area of Silicon Valley wouldn't have to read so much about Campbell, Los Gatos, etc. The separate homepages idea was too impractical from the administrative end to carry out, but we expect that we'll be able to release functionality to allow users to choose the areas or groups that they want to see content from.

For example, you will be able to go into your control panel and customize your Social Wave experience so that when you goto the homepage you only see postings that are relevant to Willow Glen, Downtown San Jose, Santa Clara, and the Book Club.

Proposed Changes:
  • Personalize Homepage Content by Area & Groups: Probability 75%
  • Personalize All Site Content by Area & Groups: Probability 10%
  • Alternate Page Layouts for Social Wave: Some people have commented that they find the page layouts for the Social Wave website to be too compressed or confusing. We eventually hope to have a different styles of page layouts for people who want larger text or no sidebars. Probability: 25%

These are development notes for the upcoming Social Wave 1.4 release planned to go out in April near our 1 year anniversary date. All are welcome to comment and make suggestions.
