SW 1.4: Other Planned Features

In four other recent topics we outlined the key areas that have been targeted for new functionality in the 1.4 release of Social Wave. Here's a list of assorted improvements and bug fixes in other areas of the site that we hope to make into the 1.4 release.

GENERAL:

• Adjustments to page layouts to better accommodate advertising . Probability: 90%
• Adjustments to page layouts to simplify cluttered areas of the site like the member control panel pages. Probability: 90%
• Improved integration of ìShout Chatîócatch an online user's attention by sending a pop-up announcement to him/her. Probability: 80%
• Top 10 Lists: See top 10 posters, top 10 most viewed profiles, top 10 merchant profiles, and other top 10's. Probability: 90%

MEMBER PROFILES:

• Bugfix: Groups that a member belongs to sometimes displays incorrectly. Probability: 90%
• Improvements to page layout. Probability: 90%
• Allow all to send me email: User can optionally choose to allow any user or guest to click the ìemail memberî button and send email. Normally only premium members are allowed to send email to other users. Premium Members Only. Probability: 80%

CALENDAR:

• Bugfix: Calendar events sometimes still having problems working correctly with groups that its associated with. Probability: 80%
• Feature: When associating a venue for an event, user may pick from the Social Wave opinion board database to quickly fill in details if the venue exists. Probability: 60%
• Integrated secure environment for event hosts to collect payment online through PayPal. Premium Members Only. Probability: 25%

PHOTO GALLERIES:

• Enhancements to photo albums to improve user's ability to easily sort and resort photos into photo albums. Probability: 70%.
  
• Publish photo album to groups, friend list, all members, or outside email addresses (like all those photo album sites, but your viewers won't have to register or login to view). Premium members only. Probability: 50%

FORUMS:

• Allow HTML in posts. Premium members only. Probability: 90%.
• User Interface improvements for display of parent/child forum display of topics. The current display is a little confusing. Probability: 80%
• User Interface improvements for Forum moderator control panel. The current display is very hard to understand. Probability: 60%
• Allow members to create and vote on photo polls. Probability 60%
• Bugfix: Fix issue with notifications failing to get emailed to some users who requested email notifications. Probability: 90%
• Bugfix: Optimize email notification process. Some have noticed that the site seems to hang for a while after you post a message or start a new topic sometimes. This is because the site waits until the notifications are all sent before redirecting users to the next screen.

HELP CENTER

To improve the effectiveness of the help files, we're switching over the entire help section to a knowledgebase style help library with interactive features to allow users to post questions will make it less cumbersome for people to ask questions and help us improve our help documentation at the same time. Probability: 70%

SITE SEARCH:

• Limit search to one area of the site (profiles, forums, etc). Probability: 90%
• Improve indexing processes to filter out redundant pages. Probability: 80%
• Increase indexing frequency. Probability: 70%

These are development notes for the upcoming Social Wave 1.4 release planned to go out in April near our 1 year anniversary date. All are welcome to comment and make suggestions.
