Just thought i'd share...
I was starving.. havent eaten all day... went to my friends deli and had the
best burger of my life.....
1lb angus burger, 4 strips of bacon, 2 types of cheese, smothered in onions and mayonaise....
With a half cooked egg on top.....
oh, if I could have just had the bread made out of meat too!
This was the most delightfull dare with a heart attach i've had in ages

Mosh, I think the DEA is looking for you now after that burger. I don't think it's illegal to marry a burger as long as the burger was from an opposite sex cow, but getting it to sign off on the marriage license will be a challenge. If you manage to pull that off, they should bring back the show "That's Incredible" just for you.
Where'd you get this burger from, BTW?
You should also check these guys out for a great burger:
Palermo's Pizza

I got it at the train track deli, Barry doesn't cook like that, but I told him I was starving and asked him to make the most unhealthy thing he could make out of animals
I'm probably putting myself on a vegan hit list, but thats ok, i'll have a stroke before they can get me!

I think I'll have to order the 1/2 size Moshie special hold the egg, substitue mushrooms when I finally get down to the Train Track. Maybe I'll find some time for lunch later this week or next week.
Yes lookout for the Vegan Mafia now... hey, that should be the name of a band.

well, they still have Ripley's Believe It Or Not. and while we're on the subject, check out these Strange Sex Laws: What's Outlawed Where http://channels.netscape.com/ns/men/sexlaws.jsp

Now back to burgers....What if we hold our next Social Wave mixer someplace we can get a really mean burger, like the Train Track or Palermo's? Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about a huge slab of ground beef cooked up nicely smothered in bacon, cheese, and mushrooms......
(Sheldon didn't mention that the true artistry of the Palermo burger is not really the meat - which is great by any standard and not terribly greasy - but the bun, which is just the right blend of sweet and savory. They must use pizza dough or something to make those things.)

Burgers? Burgers so you say!? I am from the East Bay where there are wonderful gormet hambugers! And I haven't found anything close to that down here.......mmmmmmm

Palermo's is a great idea! I've never actually been able to eat there. I tried to go once for lunch and they were CLOSED!!! Even tho I was there during hours when the sign said they were open! And I was on severe time constraints! I've had it delivered twice (once in adverse weather -- rainstorms & once during a garage sale), and I can walk there.

I'm ready to run out to these restaurants and get a couple of burgers right now, even though I just ate dinner. They sound fantastic.
The restaurant Julie alluded to is Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers in the East Bay & SF. We've never found a bigger or better burger. Check out their menu at www.barneryshamburgers.com.
So how about a nice trip to SF to chase down the best burger? We can try burgers for breakfast, another for lunch and a third for dinner! Perhaps a BBQ in the park?

Barney Burgers? Are they purple Dinoburgers?

BTW, when everyone's done salivating, don't forget to contribute a few reviews to the Opinion Board for your burger picks.

Dean! I should have known not to look at the Barneys Hamburgers website just before dinner!!! It looks SO GOOD!!!
O.k., Sheldon, we really need to have the next social gathering be at a place that serves really high-class burgers (hopefully, with a vegatarian alternative available).
I like this idea of going to a different city to try the best burger there! I'll pass on the 3-meal plan, but I could go for the 1-meal plan. Does Santa Cruz have any really good burger joints? What a beautiful place to visit!

I really like Bistro Burger in San Francisco. Bistro gets their meat from Niman Ranch. They offer vegetarian burgers as well.

I have not tried Barney's Burgers but I hear that they are really good.
Another place that has decent burgers is Jeffrey's Hamburger Court in San Mateo.

I enjoy Burger Pit on Blossom Hill, 1/3 pd Steer Burger with condiment bar to make your own fixings. For even more nostalgic experience, try Happy Hound in Los Gatos with Large (I mean Large) fries. Both are outstanding for being made by someone else. I personally make a stuffed jalapeno/cheese hamburger from my bbq and that makes my mouth water. I will have to try Palermo's. Sounds delicious.

what about burger pit behind valley fair or kirk's? do those even compare?

Oh man! Happy Hound sounds really fun!!! Just check this out. Would anyone else be interested in getting a hot dog or burger there in the next couple of weeks? Does this sound like a fun place to hold another burger night? (Joe, we can host it on another weeknight besides Thursday so you could attend! Feel free to suggest dates for an outing if you're interested!)

no offense, but happy hound sounds like of gross. don't you know what they put into hot dogs? even as a carnivore, it sounds pretty unappealing.

No I don't and please don't tell me - I prefer to live in ignorance on this one.
I love a good hot dog or Polish sausage now and then. I'm not sure why, since I really can't tolerate other fast food and I eat healthy most of the rest of the time. I guess we all must have our vices.

Mary, (I had to go look it up)
I love happy hound and would love to join you BUT please be aware that there are maybe three tables total, maybe seating for 15 people total in a very small restaurant. I loved the article and it describes the venue as 600 sq ft total, including work/kitchen area. I prefer a great day where I can sit out on the picnic table or my absolute favorite is to take the hamburger to the parks around the corner, Oak Meadows (free parking most of the time) and Vasona Lake County Park which are attached to each other.
Thanks for considering my Thursday commitments(wallyball) and I wish I could join you on Thursday for Palermos. You really pay attention to the calendar!

Argh! Why are restaurant websites so hard to find? I want to order a pizza from Palermo's but I can't find their website. It would be nice to look at the menu before I order. I know I've seen the site before. Of course, this always happens when you're in a hurry too.
I'm only able to find sites with reviews of the restaurant, which doesn't help me.

So it seems Palermo's is under new management. The food was disappointing. The pizza wasn't very warm and the salad was pretty blah. Anyone else have feedback?

I went to San Francisco Saturday and guess where my friends and I ate? Barneys on Steiner. BBQ, bacon, cheese and avocado on a whole wheat bun.......YUM, the restraunt was empty when we came in and packed when we left.
Are we going to put together a burger social?

That's a good idea, Julie! Where shall we go, gang? (Keep it in Silicon Valley, please!!) Maybe the Train Track that mosh mentioned?

Clarke's in Mt. View is really good. It's on El Camino by Castro Street. I think it's the best around. I like Burger Pit too, but they grind the meat themselves at Clarke's and it they have a great BBQ flavor to them. Yum.
I decided to try Palermo's a few months ago, and it was terrible. Pizza tasted old and had no flavor. Tried a gyro and it was just that frozen meat. I was never that impressed by them even in the past.

They have gyros? They used to be good but we probably won't be going back again. $24 for a lukewarm pizza and a salad is a bit much. I'd rather spend the money on a more nutritious and better-tasting meal.

Denny's is pushing their burgers, anyone try yet? COupons are out for 2 for one.
I make my burgers from lunardi's meat loaf mix (pork, veal, beef). I guess I should call it a meat loaf sandwich. I chop garlic and jalapenos in the meat. Then toppings are abundant, red onion, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, spicy mustard, and some mayonnaise or dressing (thousand island). When I have time, it is sauteed mushrooms and onions with toasted sourdough or rye. They are so good, I almost forget the cheese (cheddar when I remember). I season the meat with bbq or worchesterererer sauce. Anything I am missing?
They are so yummy that beer don't do them justice, wine only. I love to look at others menus and try to use those ingredients. Like my ex loves green chili's.
All the best.
