hello all, i'm new here.

i have a little cafe in palo alto. our credit card processing contract is getting over now, so we are free to move on to a new processor. so i wonder if any of your business also take credit charge, and if you have any low rate cc processors to recommend.

also, our credit card printer just broke down, so i'm looking for a new printer also. will barter for food if you have a spare one.

thanks,
cindy.

Cindy:

If you belong to Costco, you should check with them. I've been using them for almost 2 years without any problems, and their rates are very good.

You should also check the rates at whichever bank you are using, since they already have a history about your account. If you've established a working relationship with your banker, it is worth building on it, even if you have to pay a little bit more for credit card processing.

If you need more information, you can contact me, but I can't promise a response before April 15th, when I finally slow down at my firm. I'm a CPA with his own practice just outside of Campbell.

Steve

I like using the bank.

Banks don't seem to screw with you like some credit card processors seem to do.

I have heard several stories from my merchant neighbors about holding deposits, or equipment lease contracts and all.

I am renting the machine from Bank of America (costly I know) so BofA also provides all supplies and support for free.

thanks steve and stone!
by the time i got your emails, my partner already signed up for a new processor. he got a pretty good deal though, no contract, and 1% flat, that's a very very good deal, as far as i can tell. my bank doesnt do credit card processing, i think, but i'll check with costco anyway.

cindy.
