Review Title: Photo Rescue will Save Your Butt, Digital Photographers. · Overall Score: 10

My Opinion:
I own a Nikon D70 Digital SLR and I love it to pieces, but it was in my doghouse this weekend because for the second time I lost several several hours worth of shooting (100+ photos) due to a bizarre problem that corrupted the compact flash card that the photos were on. This is the second time it has happened to me and the first time I ended up having to redo the whole damn photo shoot.

I wish I knew about this program back then and I should have known to do some research on solutions before deciding to give up and do the shoot over again. At least I was able to do the shoot over. This time, it would have been very difficult to do the shoot over and I combed the web for recovery solutions.

My compact flash card was so badly corrupted that I couldn't even copy its contents to my hard drive. The copy process would abort after one or two image files because the procedure ran into corrupted data that forced it to quit.

I downloaded the demo version of Photo Rescue which allows you to comb a storage device for corrupted or erased images to recover. To my surprise, it not only found some of the photos, it found ALL 100+ of them! It didn't seem to have a problem with the fact that I had a couple of different image formats on the Compact Flash card (Nikon RAW and .JPG). I quickly paid the $29 to download the full version of the program and twenty minutes later I was looking at a morning's worth of work that I was convinced that I had lost.

One of the reviews I read about this product advised everyone reading to download the demo or even buy the product regardless of if you need it at the time or not because problems with corrupted image files are becoming more and more common and when it happens to you, you'll be flippin out too much to find a solution to retrieve your images.

I agree with that advice. If you take a lot of digital photos, YOU NEED THIS PROGRAM. It saved my butt and it may save yours too.

My Opinion:
The camera shot I used to work for used this program exclusively for it's memory card repair service. It works flawlessly, and I never encountered a card it couldn't fix. Our shop used to charge $30 for the service of repairing a card, so if you have to do it once you've already bought the program.

A digital photographer's must have.
