Delta Queen Car Wash Duck Massacre Reward Fund Growing

I'm sure most everyone's heard of the "Duck Massacre" that took place at the Delta Queen car wash on Hamilton Ave. near Bascom. It appears that it's generating outrage even beyond the Bay Area. People are contributing to the fund. The reward for the killer is up to $4500 now and I think Crime Stoppers has a pot of $1000 as well.

The emotional response is interesting. I feel sorry for the ducks, but I think the real reason I'm interested in this story is because of the idea that there's someone this twisted getting away with his deranged form of fun.

Maybe next time, it's your pet.

This story is just sick. I could hardly listen to it the other day. I did stop by the Delta Queen and gave some $$ and talked w/ the Mgr. It was my day off and I was on my way to pickup my 2 Norwiches from the groomers. Then I was caught by the TV reporter and was interviewed. IT was difficult to say anything without feeling rage and wanting to break down. "How could anyone do such a terrible thing?" While I was at PetSmart - I discussed it with several people while in line to check out. They too went down to Delta and contribute a few bucks too.
The Manager at Delta said that they had some really good evidence and felt very confident that the person would be in jail soon. This type of abuse to animals is unacceptable in our Town & society. I hope the message continues to go out that people (young men?) cannot do this type of "sick activity" and get away without a penalty. The new little baby ducks are a little nervous per one of the employees. Perhaps the ducks should not be at a busy location like this one? I have often worried about the ducks getting hit - but everyone for many years seemed to look out for the little guys.

Whoa, the pot was actually up to $7,700 as of Aug. 14th. Looks like the Merc article was a little outdated in its number.

The Los Gatos Daily news reported today that the reward was up to $14,500 and the Campbell Police Dept. had three officers assigned full time to it. They've been getting between 50-75 leads a day.

UPDATE:

They never caught the sicko and since it's been 2 years, the carwash is donating the money to animal welfare charities.

Read the story, Reward in duck case to aid animals, here.

The investigation is still open. Let's hope they catch the sicko before the violence escalates.

Well, at this point, someone would have to come forward and rat him out if they're ever going to find the guy who did it. I'm rooting for that of course, but I wouldn't want to put any money on it.
