Incredible 1st Person Photos & Account from New Orleans
Posted: Sep 2 2005, 05:05 AM
I just stumbled upon this it's a first person blog from New Orleans. It's written by some guy who works for the New Orleans based Internet service provider, DirectNIC, and amazingly they managed to keep their Internet service up. As things got worse, all of their links to the rest of the Internet failed, but one.
There's a core group of employees holed up in their headquarters with plenty of disel fuel to run the backup generators that are powering their Internet servers and they're determined to ride out the situation, keep their business up and running, and document the whole experience in words and photos.
This guy has been blogging rabidly ever since the hours before Hurricane Katrina hit and he and the CEO are running around talking to people while keeping the company open at their office on 650 Poydras St.
The blog can be found here:

A collection of their photos with comments:

Looks like they can't keep up with the demand to access this content. It's hard to access anything without waiting a minute or two. Pretty incredible stuff.
