The Board of Directors of the West Valley Light Opera Association (WVLOA) recently announced the Gene Pincus Memorial Theater Arts Scholarship for 2006.

In announcing the scholarship, WVLOA stated "we believe the future of quality community theatre lies in our youth and we want to offer a deserving young person this scholarship as an aid to pursuing his/her dream."

The scholarship will award, on a competitive basis, $500 to a graduating high school senior who intends to pursue a career in the Theater Arts and who has demonstrated a high degree of involvement in the performing arts throughout his/her high school career.

The applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is a resident of Santa Clara County and plans to attend a two or four year college.

The student's intended college major must be in the Theater Arts; this includes acting, music (vocal), dance, or stage production.

For application details, go to: http://www.wvlo.org

Applications must be postmarked no later than Monday, March 13, 2006.
