Review: Brokeback Mountain(Movies)

Reviewed: Brokeback Mountain
Starring: Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal · Rating: R · Year: 2005 ·
Description: An epic love story, set against the sweeping landscapes of Wyoming and Texas, that tells the story of two young men--a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy--who meet in the summer of 1963 while driving cattle on a mountain range. They unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love.
Review Title: Sad Story · Overall Score: 8
(Overall Rating: 8, Casting / Acting: 8, Story: 8, )
My Opinion:
Both actors do memorable work, but Ledger has the better role, and he makes the strongest choices. They are Western outdoorsmen in the true American tradition, and they can't be transplanted, which makes their love all the more difficult. You can't be a gay couple in a small Western town in 1963, and you can't be a cowboy in New York or San Francisco.

Review Title: Amazing!
Overall Score: 10
(Overall Rating: 10, Casting / Acting: 10, Story: 10, )
My Opinion:
I loved this film. Ang Lee did a brilliant job, Heath Ledger was amazing, and Michelle Williams was phenomenal. I told myself I wasn't going to cry, and I still did. It's a lovely, touching movie with beautiful cinematography, and the story will stick with you for quite a while - I'm still thinking about it. I'd recommend it to everyone.
