Happy Birthday, Apple! It's weird to think that Apple Computer is only a year younger than me. The company turns 30 on April 1, 2006.

I am a Machead.

I bought my first one about 1991 at Wolf Computer in downtown Los Gatos. It was a LC running System 7.

I believe the price was $2,500!

I liked it (and still have it stored away)

My first Mac was a Quadra Centris that I bought used online in 1993. It came with a monitor and a laser printer too. I bought it off of some guy in New Hampshire who posted an ad on a For Sale Usenet newsgroup. He got it for his daughter to use in college, but she dropped out and he just wanted to get rid of it. I can't remember how much I paid, but I got a tremendous deal on an entire system that was a year old and lightly used.

I can't remember what happened to that machine, but I along with all of my college roommates sure as hell got my money's worth out of it. I made the mistake of installing Sim City on it and for two semesters, I had to schedule time on my own computer around people who were hooked on the game. There were times when there was someone using that computer close to 24 hours a day.

The first Mac I ever used was the original Mac Classic. My uncle was a big computer enthusiast in the 80's and he had one of those first machines. It was doubly fascinating because it was the first time I saw a mouse too. It was also memorable because it was the first time I played the game Daleks.

The first Mac I ever bought was the iMac in the 90's. I now use our G3.
~ my Dads car was on fire and people around him were warning him to move, but he HAD to dig his Classic Mac out of his trunk! He and his Mac are fine. rolleyes.gif

I miss the game Daleks -- I remember it being called 'The New Daleks' -- it was a simple fun game.

Anyone know if it is still around in Mac OSX?

I have searched the web a bit and came up empty handed...

I only buy Macs. I will not pay money for a PC. The irony is that my parents both worked for IBM for 15 years each, yet they don't really know how to use computers. They still reside in Silicon Valley and are currently using my second generation iMac with dialup. w00t.gif I currently own an iBook.

Julie, that's a great story. smile.gif
