Suggestions for a Better Ad

Note: This help file is currently under development. If you need help creating an ad, please contact support@socialwave.net.

Key Suggestions:

  • Post For Sale Items Individually
If you have a lot of item, it may make sense to post them as a long list of things you're selling, but if you have only a few things, you should consider posting an individual ad for each. This way people who are just scanning the listings will be able to see everything you're selling without clicking on your ad.

  • Write Descriptive Names for Items or Services You're Selling
Remember that people will most likely just scan the listings. If you're selling a digital camera, you should name it something like \"Nikon Coolpix 990 3.1 Megapixel Camera\" instead of \"Digital Camera for Sale\".

  • Post a photo of the product if you have one
People like to see a photo of what you're selling to confirm that they're buying what they think they're buying and also to get a good estimate on the condition of the item. Describing the condition of items is helpful, but not everyone agrees on the criteria for describing something as \"Good Condition\".

  • If you want people who are not Social Wave members to be able to respond to your ad too, make sure you include some contact info in your ad
Visitors to the Social Wave site regularly come in off of search hits from search engines or links from other sites. We have a lot of people who surf the site regularly, but just never feel like making the effort to sign up for a free member account. If you want these people to be able to reach you, you should include non-sensitive contact information in your posting. We do not list contact information about our members online otherwise. Members are able to contact each other through the Social Wave Personal Messaging application and also through emails that can be sent from people's profile pages.
