My first was Joan Baez at the Greek Theater in Berkeley around 1975 that was with my family.

But my first rock concert was around 1981 when I saw Steve Miller at the Concord Pavillion. rolleyes.gif

Man, I can't remember, but I remember that I had a lot of fun and wanted to goto another one soon. I think it was a free concert... The Storm, the short lived Journey reunion band without Neil Perry. They played a free 1 hr show at the Santa Clara County Fair in 92 or 93. I went with my good friend, RoRo the Clown.

I think I was 18 or 19 then... a pretty late age for the first concert. I guess that's what having repressive parents will do for you. I was catching small local coffeeshop acts well before that though. There used to be a killer Flamenco guitarist named Felipe who used to play at the City Espresso at Kirkwood Plaza (it's a Starbucks now--yuck). He disappeared one day and I saw him again a couple of years later for one of his last shows before he decided to move back to Peru and open a Chiropractic school.

I went to classical music concerts with my parents when I was a really small child, but my first popular music concert must have been seeing The Nylons perform at Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Colorado in the mid-80s. I had so much fun!!!!

Ok when I was about 6 years old my parents took us to see the Beach Boys in Concord. But my first concert with friends was in 1988, we saw Bon Jovi & Skid Row. I was 13.

lol - When I was in high school in SoCal (1976) I begged my parents to let me go see Maynard Fergusen, a jazz trumpet player, at a small theatre in Anaheim. They were afraid there might be drugs there, so they wouldn't let me go with my friends. But they took me.

First one I went to on my own was Harry Chapin.

Now my husband and I present concerts in our living room.... Freebo, who toured with Bonnie Raitt for 15 years, will be here on Friday with a #1 charted songwriter, Jim Photoglo.

p.s. I let my 15-year old daughter go to the Warfield with her friends to see Amos Lee. I just told her to stay away from the clouds of smoke ohmy.gif

My first concert was Air Supply at Great America in the '80s. I was probably 10 and my older bro took me. Their music now makes me want to puke, but still invokes a bit of nostalgia. I also saw NKOTB open for Tiffany at the same venue. I was 12 at the time and NKOTB are far superior than boy bands of today like N Sync (or whatever is popular now - I wouldn't know). I have since been to over 50 concerts and probably seen over 100 bands. The last concert I went to was Foo Fighters' acoustic tour (both nights in Berkeley). They are my favorite band and it was my 6th and 7th time seeing them. I've seen Moby, my favorite singer and artist, 5 times.

I've seen most of my favorites at least once, and some two or three times. In one 12-month stretch, I mananged to average 2 concerts a month. That's nothing compared to my concert buddy who has been known to go to 6 shows in 7 days. He probably sees more now that he works for Rhapsody and the company that owns Bill Graham Civic and Slim's.

Summer of 1972, Chicago was playing at the Santa Clara Fairgrounds. Went with Bill and Dave and Frank and Marcia and Jana and Cindy. The girls all braided their hair the night before (except for Janna who's hair was too short) so that the night of the concert we unbraided and frizzed it. Nothing like a bunch of white girls with afro's - lol Marcia's mom took us, my uncle picked us up. I don't even remember the concert. I remember the fun of getting ready and being "by our selves" until my uncle showed up.

Thanks for bringing back the memory biggrin.gif

Even though I admit that my first concert was the Steve Miller Band.

My favorite so far has been Norah Jones at the Red Rock Ampitheatre in Colorado. I had been married for a month and I won tickets to the show and it included a catered dinner, a very nice hotel, a flight to and from SF, a bus tour and a day concert also, Thank you KFOG.

When I saw Pink Floyd at the Coloseum it was sprinkling and the lazer lights were awesome. But I also loved Santana, Tower of Power, KT Tunstell, Los Lonely Boys, Train, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, John Mayer and those many other bands.
