Event Discussion Thread

I am one of the fortunates that grew up in Willow Glen. Grad from W.G. Elementary in 1959 and W.G. High in `65. Although I left the glen in 70 to find something that I`m not sure I ever located...I ended up in Sacramento after a 10 year stint in Tahoe. I grew up on Cherry Avenue and am one of the original "boys of summer", along with lifetime W.G. residents Jim Carter of the San Jose Fire Dept., Don Barber, high school history teacher, Bobby DeLong of RED construction and so many others that realized the truth in what Dorothy taught us.."Sometimes you don`t have to look any farther than your own back yard". I always come home for Founders Day and Dancin on the avenue...who said, "You can never go home again"? Thanks to the powers that be, Willow Glen is safe and secure and preserved. My daughters have seen the same little village that they grew up hearing me talk about. I`ve taken them into what was the Pronto Pup, Ed`s Hobby Shop, the Garden Theater..thank you for that.
and thank you guys.. the boys of summer, my friends, for this is our 52 year of friendship. I love you guys and I`ll see you for Dancin` on the Avenue..

Jim Flynn..
