Major YahooDSL Outage Yesterday
Posted: Jun 12 2007, 03:35 AM
Well, it's good to see that the Internet still exists. Like a lot of people, I couldn't get on from my Yahoo DSL connection yesterday. I heard lots of varying rumors as to what the problem was and when it'd be fixed. I finally called their customer support myself around 11pm and some very helpful guy at a call center probably overseas read off the names of all cities that were affected in my area. It was basically a roll call of Silicon Valley.
It was a very strange feeling day, but also a much less stressful feeling day. To tell you the truth, it was kinda nice even though I had a hard time getting anything done.

I heard there was a problem with AT&T's data lines. My friend's DSL went out last week in the middle of the night but did not go out yesterday. He lives in Campbell as well.
What is the # to call for status updates should this happen in the future? I called AT&T around noon and it took them half an hour to figure out that there was an outage in my area. I was told they hoped to have it back up in a couple of hours. It was out for about 24 hours. We tried to call them again in the evening but it was after hours. A lot of people work from home so it's very frustrating to have service out for so long.

I called their 1-877 number. I can't remember what all the digits are. It took me about 15 minutes to get through, but I was calling at around midnight. They said they'd credit my account due to the outage.

That's the same # we called, if it's the DSL # on the bill. Does that mean we'll get a credit for a whopping $1.16 for the 24-hour outage?
