Looking for a room

in Campbell, near the Pruneyard if possible-I can pay $500-I'm a great roomate-courteous, considerate and clean-I think the posts on Craigslist are just exhausting, too expensive, etc. There must be someone, a nice woman out there, who wants to live with another nice woman? Anyone out there?

Hi Lizabet, have you also tried some of the roommate finding services? Two that I know off the top of my head are roommates.com and rent.com.
I've done the roommate finding ritual many many times from both sides of the deal and I have to say that it is sometimes a very difficult and daunting process. In many ways it reminds me of online dating, and that's something that I've gladly left behind. On both ends of the deal you have to work hard if you want to find a good fit and sometimes you think you find a good fit only to get turned down. Of course, there's money involved too... talk about a high pressure situation.
In recent years, I've found Craigslist to be hit or miss in effectiveness for helping you find a roommate. Throughout the bubble years, it seemed like the only place you needed to go. Now it's as much of a headache as it is a resource because they still probably are the dominiant service for finding roommates, but competition has siphoned off some of their traffic and scammers taking advantage of their open access and minimalist ways have made listing and seeking more difficult.
We actually found our last roommate on Roomates.com and the profiles they offered helped us find a very compatible roommate and shorten the interview process. I much prefer the way that roommate finding services work over Craiglist. They don't get as much traffic, but if you're having difficulty with the emotional or laborious aspects of interviewing, it might make the process a little less distressing by helping both parties present themselves more completely.
I've been turned down from places I really wanted to get into and I've had to turn away people who really wanted to move in after extended conversations. That part is always difficult, but it's easier to deal with if something can help you shorten the process so one side or the other doesn't end up becoming emotionally invested in an outcome.

Hi,
One of my customers needs a personal assistant and in exchange for 10-20 hours of work per week she is offering her cottage rent-free. She's right off Union on Central Park Drive. It's a small cottage but you can't beat the price! She is a young, dynamic business owner and she'd be great to work with! Email me if you think this would work for you...home@dogduty.org
