Arkansas Couple Welcomes 17th Child

The article doesn't say. According to reader comments, the family is debt-free and built their own 7,000-square-foot house but some readers also say the couple is addicted to the media attention their kids bring them. I agree with the majority of readers -- it's selfish and their carbon footprint must be huge (they've gone through 90,000 diapers, and they are already talking about having more kids.) I also think quantity does not equal quality. How can the parents possibly give each kid the attention and nurturing that they deserve? It's a good thing the girls are the oldest since they are expected to help rear the others. I just don't see how it's a good situation for everyone in the long run.

Thank you! Plus the woman is already 40 so that makes any future pregnancies at-risk for both the health of the mother and with more risks of complications and birth defects. The older a man gets, the more the quality of his sperm is also in question.
