Whoever Designed the New Sharks Jerseys Must Get Traded

Wow, all I can say is that this is some kinda of ugly....

The Sharks unveil their new Jerseys today and words cannot describe how awful looking they are. Whoever designed them must get traded to someplace where they don't play hockey.

I'm not sure just what exactly the jerseys look like. A few things come to mind though: ceremonial law enforcement uniforms, college graduation gowns, or some kind of human sized halloween costume for pets.

Anyway, here's a picture pilfered from the SJ Sharks photo gallery of Sgt. Joe Thornton of the SJ Mounted Police... er I mean All-Star Center Joe Thornton of the SJ Sharks modeling what will hopefully be only a one year mistake.

I read in one of the community newspapers -- I think the Sunnyvale Sun -- about the guy that designed the logo's and such for the Sharks.

He is a local guy, probably Sunnyvale since it was in that paper, and his business is mostly sports logos.

He did the original Sharks logo and was eager to rework and tweak the design. The article had pics of the logo; showing the different layers one could use: with the name or without, a small shark, yada, yada, yada, so that a designer could choose the right logo for the product.

Well, I actually like the logo and think the update was pretty nice. It's the rest of the jersey that's the problem....

Yeah, I concur with Mary. It's not the logo itself so much as the way they tried to use the logo with the jersey. The new logo is very angular and just doesn't work with the horizontal striping that's characteristic of classic hockey jerseys.

On the shoulders they try to blend in the very angular extended logo in with a very linear looking sweater by applying shoulder patches of sorts. Well... those shoulder patches is where it looks the most silly. Everyone knows that if you're going to have shoulder patches, you need tassels too! Come on uni-designers. Where are the tassels?!?
