No Advertisements on Bases!
Posted: May 7 2004, 01:04 PM
Have you heard about the proposal that was on the table for featuring advertisements for Spiderman 2 on the bases for some games? Just about all of the teams agreed to it, but some reluctantly and I think the Yankees were said to be resisting. Well, thankfully they came to their senses and decided against it.
It was supposed to be a way for the sport to appeal to a younger generation, but a lot of people thought it was simply tasteless. I'd have to say that I'd be one of those. Instead I'd propose that for a four game series, the team that loses a game should be forced to all wear Spider Man costume-uniforms for the following game to promote the movie. Now THAT would be a hell of a way to improve the sport. Not only does the game get more colorful, but you can sure as hell bet players will have new motivation to WIN.
