Good Gardener & Tree Trimmer Wanted
Posted: Jan 16 2008, 01:11 AM
Can anyone recommend a good gardener in the Campbell area? We also need someone who trims trees (doesn't have to be the same gardener, as I know not all of them trim trees.) We prefer someone who doesn't use pesticides. Thanks!

Oddly enough, the only environmentally-friendly landscaper I've found so far is SmartRoots Landscape Services on Social Wave. Why didn't you guys tell me this was here? The problem with gardeners is that most are not tech-savvy so it's hard to find them on the web. You have to rely on word of mouth and so far my network hasn't been very helpful.

LOL, that's cool! I should have thought of that.
Haha, sometimes you're too close to a possible solution to see it.
I was going to mention that we really like our gardner, but I kept forgetting to do it. We like his, but he's your usual general purposes gardner and probably not what you're looking for.
Mary and Kirk took some classes on CA native plants a couple of years ago and met some environmentally friendly landscapers there. Did you get any info from Mary? We've had our hands full in the last month, so there's stuff whizzing by us left and right.

Kirk and I got a lot of information on landscapers, but not much on gardeners, unfortunately. If anyone wants info on native plant landscapers, please let me know!
I really like our gardener, too. I've noticed that he's pretty much stopped using weed killer lately. I don't know whether that's an environmental decision on his part, or because I've planted a lot of stuff in all the bare spots that used to get the chemical treatments and he doesn't want to kill it all. He's a very conscientious guy - I'm sure if we were very explicit with him about not using nasty chemicals, he'd comply.
