30th Annual Campbell Highland Games and Celtic Gathering (public event)

Join us at the 30th Annual Campbell Highland Games, taking place at the Campbell Community Center on June 21, 9am-5pm. The Games will feature pipe bands; Highland, Scottish country, and Ceilidh dancing; information booths from Scottish Clans and Celtic Societies; a Glen o'the Wee'Uns; a Living History Area; Celtic food and dry good vendors; Scottish heavy athletics; Celtic field athletics; live music; and some major surprises.

Scottish Heavy Athletics
The Campbell Highland Games will feature the World Professional Open Stone Put Championship, professional and amateur classes in the Caber toss, Scottish hammer, and weight for height and weight for distance contests. These promise to draw professional and amateur athletes from around the country and hopefully the world!

Celtic Field Athletics
This alternative athletic venue promises to entertain and educate, with tournament rugby and shinty! Returning this year from Scotland is Gary Innes, world class shinty player, who will be here to play and coach. He will be presenting a shinty workshop on Sunday the 22nd and giving demonstrations throughout the day on Saturday.

Entertainment
Headlining this year’s Celtic Entertainment is world-class musician, songwriter, and album producer Brian McNeill of Falkirk, Scotland. In 1969 he formed one of Scotland's premier music ensembles, Battlefield Band, and his profound influence on Scottish and Celtic music has long been internationally recognized.

Also appearing will be Gary Innes who is not only a world class shinty player, but an accomplished musician. Gary is from a small village in the northwest Scottish highlands called Spean Bridge, and started playing the accordion at the age of 9. Each year, he tours extensively throughout Europe and Asia with various bands, and has performed regularly with the Scottish band Runrig.

Post Game Kirkin o' the Tartans
Once again we are pleased to be a part of the Kirkin o' the Tartans service in conjunction with The Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos on Sunday, June 22. The service will take place at 16575 Shannon Road, Los Gatos at 10 a.m. Please call 408-356-6156 for information on the Kirkin o' the Tartans service.
