Well, today's Earth Day, but it doesn't seem like it gets as much notice as in the past, but perhaps for good reasons. In the past, recycling seemed like a revelation and was controversial.

It's still being selected as a convenient date for high impact statements though. Time magazine just published a controversial cover that shows a digitally edited version of the flag raising at Iwo Jima.

It's being blasted as being in poor taste or disrespectful of the US Military. Perhaps, but it seems to fit with the cover story's theme of "Winning the War on Global Warming."

Did anyone find it ironic that West Valley's Annual Cleanup Program was the day after Earth Day? Was that just a coincidence? For a week, I had to look at huge piles of trash all over the neighborhood, waiting to be taken to the dump to sit FOREVER since it likely won't decompose (especially being surrounded by miles of trash). There's a house on McCoy close to Harriet that had the most trash I've ever seen at one house. They had a whole bunch of black trash bags lining the sidewalk. It was the length of 3 or 4 cars. The same house had the same amount of trash last year. I just wonder what the heck was in those bags. How can someone possibly have so much trash?? I mean, if the stuff was reusable at least donate it to Goodwill or someone who can use it. How wasteful.
