Driving Less? Check in with your auto insurance.
Posted: Jun 11 2008, 02:14 PM
If you're one of the people who's been choking back significantly on the amount of driving that you do, you may want to check in with your car insurance to see if you can now qualify for a lower rate on your auto premium. If you're like me, you probably set-up your insurance coverage years ago and haven't paid too much attention to it since. If you've changed your driving habits significantly, it may pay to check.

Mr. Roadshow recommended this recently. Unfortunately, I've already been down to the lowest level for a few years (10,000 miles) so they won't give me any further discounts. I actually don't even drive even that much. I mostly drive to work and maybe to SF occasionally. I drive maybe 6000-7000 miles a year. Location has always been the biggest factor in where I live. I HATE long commutes so make sure I work and live in the same area. I actually hate commuting in general, and have been lucky enough to have flexible bosses who allow me to telecommute at least part time.
