Event Expired
This event has passed and RSVPs can no longer be submitted, but you can still post a message to this event's discussion thread.

*Please note that we've rescheduled this event to September 11 in deference to those who want to watch the political conventions!*

Join other Social Wave members for dinner at Yas Restaurant! Yas specializes in Persian cuisine. There's plenty of animal protein available for omnivores, and a number of vegetarian dishes for herbivores. You can check out the menu (including prices) here.

So come on down for good conversation, good laughs, and way too much food! Everyone is welcome (including you)!! Please RSVP so I can tell the restaurant how many chairs to place around the table. Don't worry if you don't have a "significant other" or friend to bring with you - just come as you are. You'll make friends before you know it.

Mary,

I think my computer and I have done it again. There wasn't an RSVP section when I followed the link to the Dinner Social page. How do I go about finding that RSVP section?

It's possible that the event was setup as a general event rather than an RSVP-type of event. I'll email Mary...my guess is that she might have to reestablish the event posting.

Whoops!!!! stuart.gif Thanks, Don!!!!!

I initially posted the event as a "general event" instead of a "social event". It was easily remedied by editing the listing. You should be able to RSVP now.

Gotta love Persian food. I've always wanted to try this place, but keep forgetting it's there.

I've been here several times. My Persian friend says it's one of the best Persian places in the area. Try the House Special, SHEEREEN POLO. I don't know if I'll feel up to going but I definitely recommend Yas! smile.gif

If you feel up to it that day, why don't you join us, Pam? I'll save you a seat just in case. wink.gif

Sounds like a plan. The fairly new Mediterranean place in The Pruneyard is also good. smile.gif

Hmm... I'm actually getting my hair cut that day so I may not be presentable. smile.gif I'll let you know.

pinch.gif I just realized that I've scheduled the dinner social at the same time as Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention!!!! Argh!!!!

Let's reschedule! What's your schedule looking like?

Mary,

I checked our schedule; the book club is scheduled for Sept. 4th, we'll be gone Sept. 18th, so that leaves us available for Sept. 11th or 25th. Let us know what you think will work.

September 11th would be great! Let's book that! I'll edit the event listing above. Hopefully, we'll attract a few more people without the conflict in play.

Thanks, Pam, but let's keep it at the new time. I'm hoping it will encourage more people to attend.

I guess 3-4 people doesn't really constitute a social. tongue.gif

It does - believe me - we've had a really good time with some pretty sparse attendance this summer! But it would be nice to include as many people as possible. smile.gif

A lil' variety is good. Small is cool as long as it's not every time. Anyway, a lot of people in the dinner socials group had a pretty brutal spring and summer so it kinda killed any momentum going.

On the flip side... a good ways back when we had more time, freedom, and energy, we used to get more people than we could comfortably handle.

True, it's good to mix it up every now and then. I suspect attendance will continue to be low for awhile since the cost of living continues to climb. All the more reason to vote for Barack in November! Americans are hurting and a McCain White House will do nothing to help, it will only prolong the pain. Shameless plug for my post! smile.gif

This event is the August Social rescheduled. I am hosting the September Social on Wed 9/17. Had to beg to host. Mary is one tough customer. Come for the food, come for the entertainment, come for the company. Sports page in Mt View. 4-8pm. Mr Bill, Senor Reed and all their friends will be there. I am cheating by joining an established group. They are all potential social wave recruits. Come show them what a great crowd we are. Plenty of space, tons of flexibility, and how can you beat patio dining in shorts, tshirts and thongs. BTW there is an outdoor sand volleyball court to go along with their beer on tap. Isn't life great!!!!! There is tons of shade for you sunlight sensitive diners.

I am thinking of doing a second dinner social on Sunday, 9/28 at one of my favorite places: El Burro. I am checking with my most active people if they can handle two dinner socials in one month. Keep your calendar clear for indulgent eating and great company. We will schedule around 6:30pm. I will reserve some patio tables, they love me. I will confirm this week.

Oh I'm so tough!!!! tongue.gif

Joe, if you could schedule the El Burro outing for October, that would help me out a lot! flowers.gif I'm going to be really busy in October and November, and I could use someone else taking over for a couple months.
