The nation's oldest Italian-American parade and community event celebrates its 136th year on Sunday October 10. Parade highlights include dozens of handcrafted parade floats, marching bands; performances by a variety of traditional Italian musicians and performance artists; and guest appearances by Bay Area and nationally recognized Italian-American celebrities.
The parade route begins at world famous Fisherman's Wharf and proceeds south through the Italian North Beach District on Columbus Avenue ending up at Washington Square Park for Festivale. Festivale is a free and exuberant Italian heritage celebration taking place in Washington Square Park during and after the Parade and has something for everyone. Activities include live entertainment, Italian themed food & beverage, children's activities, arts & crafts, wine tasting and a Ferrari Car Show.
Other Columbus Day Weekend highlights include the elegant black tie Grand Banquet dinner & dance on Friday evening where the 2004 queen and her court will be introduced.
On Saturday, the 7th Cal-Italia Wine & Food Tasting will take place in Washington Square Park where you can enjoy fine wines from California wineries producing Italian varietals and sample foods and other products.
