The Red Sox kept their October run alive, completing the biggest series comeback in Major League postseason history by taking Game 7 to win their first AL pennant since 1986.

Has the curse been broken? We will find out soon enough. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/index.jsp

I only watched only a few minutes of it here and there, but it was a crazy series! Like everyone else, I couldn't believe that they pulled it off. I thought it was over after the game 2 massacre, but it just ended up being one of the most bizarrely dramatic series ever.

Mary and I ended up surrounded by transplanted Bostonians up in SF for the end of game 7. We were at the Martin Sexton concert at the Fillmore and both the opening band and headliner were New Englanders. Naturally they were thinking about the score as was half the audience. They did a few score checks between songs. You could see people standing around all over the place staring at their cell phones. biggrin.gif

Wow, that was nuts.

While the Red Sox postseason success is becoming a U.S. cultural phenomenon, it could take on political dimensions before the Nov. 2 presidential election.

If the Houston Astros beat the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night for the National League title, the World Series will mirror the showdown between Republican President Bush of Texas and Democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.
